Job Summary

Sharjah Maritime Academy is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor in Maritime Business & Law to deliver academic excellence through teaching, research, and leadership in maritime-related subjects. The position requires a PhD in Maritime Business, Law, or a related discipline, and offers an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of maritime leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach subjects including Maritime Business, Admiralty Law, International Trade Law, and Shipping Management.

• Use innovative teaching and assessment methods to enhance learning outcomes.

• Participate in curriculum design, assessment, and program evaluation.

• Conduct research to support the Academy’s academic goals and contribute to its growing research output.

• Ensure timely feedback and academic support for students.

• Engage in departmental and institutional committees, academic advising, and quality assurance initiatives.

• Update course content regularly to reflect the latest research and industry practices.

• Collaborate with other faculty members to align teaching with strategic priorities.

• Represent the Academy at conferences and academic gatherings when required.

• Comply with academic schedules, standards, and accreditation frameworks such as UAE CAA requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

• PhD in Maritime Business, Maritime Law, or related discipline.

• Recognised qualification for teaching in higher education.

• Industry membership or affiliation with professional maritime bodies preferred.

• Strong command of English and academic communication.

• Experience teaching at university level in maritime or legal studies.

• Familiarity with learning technologies, online assessment tools, and quality assurance systems.

• Ability to apply theory to practice using real-world case studies and projects.

• Culturally sensitive and collaborative approach to teaching and research.
