Cover Teacher

Job Purpose
To provide temporary teaching support in the absence of the regular class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning, maintaining classroom management and supporting the academic and pastoral development of students. The role will involve regular scheduled teaching within EYFS, alongside opportunities to teach and provide cover across other phases of the school up to Year 11.

Job Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Plan and deliver well-structured, creative, and differentiated lessons for primary-aged students.

• Ensure continuity of learning by maintaining classroom order and engagement

• Deliver lessons as per the existing lesson plans or curriculum guidance

• Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to motivate and challenge students.

• Assess, record, and report on students’ progress regularly and accurately.

• Differentiate instruction to support students with varying needs, including EAL and SEND learners.

• Use data to inform teaching practices and provide targeted support.

• Foster a positive classroom climate of respect, encouragement, and high expectations.

• Assess students’ learning on a lesson-by-lesson basis, using assessment data to set targets and track progress.

• Uphold the school’s teaching and learning expectations as guided by the School’s Policy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education or Postgraduate Diploma in Education with QTS.

Experience

Minimum 2 years in EYFS and/or Primary experience teaching in the British Curriculum in a similar role.
