The Residence Inn by Marriott Downtown Calgary/Beltline provides 390 modern long-stay suites in Calgary’s downtown. The hotel caters to business and family leisure travellers looking for an extended-stay hotel as well as to groups and meeting attendees with a 10,000 sq. ft. Conference Centre. Guestrooms feature full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas and provide seamless connectivity to the home and office with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout, free hot breakfast daily, complimentary grocery delivery, 24-hour onsite food and beverage market, health and fitness options and comfortable public areas, including a terrace lounge and roof deck for relaxation and socializing.
We are searching for a Director of Operations to become an integral part of the team. This role is responsible for hotel operations by leading, coaching and mentoring hotel employees, while ensuring the maximization of revenues, through the development of a strong service culture that displays the values and vision of the Residence Inn Calgary Downtown. In collaboration with the General Manager, sets the strategy and vision for the hotel and inspires a culture of excellence while driving industry leading guest experiences and financial performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations
• Supports the GM in implementing brand, hotel and Manga standards including property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and services.
• Analyzes property operations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Along with the GM, participates in the hotel’s Executive Committee and Leadership team.
• Ensures written Standard Operating Procedures are being reviewed and followed.
• EOS delivery and communication to the leaders with strategies for areas to develop and improve.
• Reviews GSS results monthly and sets action plans.
Supervision and Support
• Cultivates an open dialogue environment which encourages employee suggestions and involvement.
• Ensures coverage in time of manpower shortage, emergency situations and vacation.
• Continuous coaching and mentorship of the leadership teams.
Financial
• Analyze and identify financial opportunities including, but not limited to cost controls, productivity levels and revenue generation.
• Supports the GM with the annual hotel strategic planning process, operating budget, marketing and capital plans.
• Supporting the GM, maximizes NOI through effective execution of management, GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) management, customer service and effective cost controls.
Human Resources
• Creates a strong service culture in the hotel.
• Assists with Performance Management reviews of employees.
• Assists in hotel’s recruitment efforts, supervising and guiding department managers in the efficient operation of their respective areas.
• Maximizes EOS through strong leadership, HR Policies and effective practices.
• Ensures the health and safety of all guests and associates.
• Ensures Local, Provincial and Brand compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Certificate/Diploma/Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Proven leadership and management skills in a hotel environment.
• 5 years’ experience in progressive management roles.
• Strong organizer, set priorities, plans, and delegates responsibility.
• Excellent communicator.
• Experience with mentorship, coaching and training.
• Previous Marriott experience is an asset.
