Job Description – IT Recruitment Sourcer

We are looking for a focused and reliable IT Recruitment Sourcer to support our growing technical recruitment needs. This is a role for someone who understands the importance of finding the right candidate, not just filling a vacancy. If you are someone who enjoys research, can work methodically, and knows how to identify potential in a sea of profiles, this position may suit you well.

The role is based in Kandy, with flexibility for remote or hybrid working depending on your level of experience and self-management. You’ll work closely with recruitment leads and hiring managers to source, screen, and engage with IT professionals across a wide range of roles—developers, QA engineers, DevOps, analysts, and more.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Sourcing

  • Identify and attract potential candidates using a variety of channels including LinkedIn, job boards, GitHub, Stack Overflow, and internal databases.

  • Use Boolean and keyword searches to find relevant resumes for open roles.

  • Understand the technical requirements of each role to source suitable candidates—not just by title, but by skill set.

Initial Candidate Engagement

  • Reach out to shortlisted candidates with accurate and clear role descriptions.

  • Conduct brief screening calls to assess availability, salary expectations, and communication skills.

  • Build candidate interest by providing a realistic picture of the role, team, and company culture.

Database and Pipeline Management

  • Maintain an organized record of potential candidates using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or spreadsheet tracking.

  • Tag and categorize profiles based on skills, seniority, and suitability for future roles.

  • Keep a warm pipeline of candidates ready for upcoming hiring needs.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with recruiters and hiring managers to understand role priorities and hiring timelines.

  • Provide regular updates on sourcing activity and candidate flow.

  • Flag any sourcing challenges early—such as market scarcity, mismatched expectations, or high competition.

Market Research

  • Stay updated on local and international IT hiring trends, salary benchmarks, and in-demand skills.

  • Collect feedback from candidates to understand what they’re looking for in a new role.

  • Provide insights on sourcing channels that work best for different roles.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in recruitment, with a focus on sourcing for IT or technical roles preferred.

  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards (such as RoosterJobs, JobStreet, or Indeed), and resume databases.

  • Ability to write professional and engaging candidate messages.

  • Confidence in assessing basic technical skills through profiles and screening conversations.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Sinhala and Tamil are advantages for local sourcing.

Preferred Tools & Technical Skills

  • Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (e.g., Workable, Greenhouse, or similar).

  • Comfort with Boolean search logic and search engine filters.

  • Basic understanding of tech roles and terminology (e.g., difference between front-end and back-end developers, what a QA tester does, what DevOps means, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for pipeline tracking.

What This Role Is (and Isn’t)

This role is not about closing offers or negotiating packages. It’s about building the front end of the recruitment pipeline: finding, screening, and qualifying talent before they reach the recruiter or hiring manager.

You are not expected to be an expert in coding or technical evaluation—but you should be confident enough to spot what makes a profile relevant or not.

You’ll work with clear targets for outreach volume and candidate quality, but you’ll also have the autonomy to improve your sourcing process based on what works.

Work Environment

This position is based in Kandy, but we are open to remote or hybrid work arrangements based on performance and experience. You will report to the Recruitment Lead or Talent Acquisition Manager, and collaborate virtually with teams across Sri Lanka or overseas.

Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, but there may be times when flexible scheduling is needed to align with overseas teams or international candidates.

What You’ll Learn

This role is a strong foundation for a long-term career in recruitment or human resources. You will:

  • Improve your ability to evaluate IT roles and candidates accurately.

  • Learn how to prioritize hiring needs and align your search with business goals.

  • Gain exposure to modern hiring tools and sourcing techniques.

  • Build a professional network in the IT sector.

Career Growth

Successful IT sourcers often go on to become:

  • Full-cycle Technical Recruiters

  • Talent Acquisition Specialists

  • Employer Branding Coordinators

  • Recruitment Operations Leads

If you show commitment, organization, and consistent results, there will be opportunities to grow within the company or explore lateral moves based on your interests.

Compensation and Benefits

  • A competitive salary based on experience and skill.

  • Internet and tech allowance for remote work.

  • Monthly performance incentives for meeting sourcing targets.

  • Training opportunities in sourcing, recruiting, and tech hiring.

  • A collaborative and respectful work environment.

Application Process

To apply, please send us:

  • Your CV (max 2 pages)

  • A short note describing your experience with IT sourcing and why you’re interested in this role

Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview and a short practical task related to sourcing.

Final Note

Recruitment isn’t about spamming profiles or rushing through numbers. It’s about matching the right people to the right opportunities, using thought, care, and attention.

If you’re someone who likes working behind the scenes, who understands the importance of clean, well-organized sourcing, and who takes pride in finding candidates others miss, this job may be a good fit.

Let me know if you’d like a tailored version for in-house vs. agency sourcing, or if the role is for international remote talent sourcing.
